Danfoss VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 Series AC Drive – Product Spotlight

Danfoss’ VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 Series AC Drives are advanced, high dynamic drives designed for variable speed control of all asynchronous and permanent magnet motors. Built on a flexible, modular design concept to provide versatile control, FC 302 drives come with a wide range of standard industry features which can be expanded with several plug-and-play options.

Danfoss VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 AC drives, available at Galco.com! Picutred is the 131B0082 model, rated for 10 horsepower at 480 VAC.

Models are rated for:

  • 200-240 VAC, three-phase in sizes from 0.33 to 50 horsepower
  • 380-500 VAC, three-phase in sizes from 0.5 to 1,200 horsepower
  • 525-600 VAC, three-phase in sizes from 1 to 100 horsepower
  • 525-690 VAC, three-phase in sizes from 11 to 1,000 kW

All VLT drives, including the FC 302, come with a built-in smart logic controller, programmed to monitor a specific process event. When the monitored event occurs, a specific action can be programmed to execute. Up to 20 different events can be monitored before looping back to step one. “Events” include any parameter that can be defined as “true” or “false,” and even sensor outputs.
The drive is also able to automatically change speed based on the accurate estimation of its load. This is one of the efficient methods a drive can use to maximize production speed. Instead of calibrating to an average load, VLT drives estimate motor currents generated by the actual load and compensating accordingly for smooth starts, operation and stops.
Full holding torque capability at 0 RPM reduces mechanical wear on gears and brakes, minimizing maintenance and maximizing uptime.
To ensure system reliability, VLT drives have built-in protections for: system overload, motor failure, motor/drive overheating, phase loss, short circuits, ground faults, over- and undervoltage, overcurrent, external faults, and much more. Drives are available with up to IP66-rated enclosures for harsh environments, and each FC 302 model is equipped with safe stop functionality suitable for category 3 installations (defined by EN 954-1) in a simple one-wire configuration.
